The NGO CSW/NY office is in New York, NY. All employees and interns must be eligible to work in the United States and able to commute to our office. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or help support relocation. We proudly pay all of our interns $16.50/hour.

Join the NGO CSW/NY team to help develop and facilitate a platform for the voices and leadership of feminists and women’s rights organizations globally! Have an essential role in creating branding for and supporting the development of the NGO CSW69/Beijing+30 Forum platform, one of the largest civil society gatherings at the United Nations. Interns will also have the opportunity to network and connect with global activists, organizations, and those within the UN system during the CSW and throughout the Committees year-round programming. 

The NGO CSW Forum is organized by and for global civil society, non-governmental organizations, and feminists to connect them with the official United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW) process. With over 750 events, the NGO CSW Forum informs, engages, and inspires grassroots efforts and gender equality advocacy around the world. While the NGO CSW Forum runs parallel to and complements the UN CSW, it is a separate process with separate organizers.

This 8 month internship requires interns to work 3 days a week for a minimum of 10-15 hours.

Advocavy and Administrative Intern tasks and projects include:

  • Having an essential role in the planning and implementation the NGO CSW70 Forum by contributing to decisions on Forum substance, events, promotions, resources, and more;
  • Taking part in NGO CSW/NY's advocacy efforts and engagement with Member States of the UN;
  • Researching and creating resources for the NGO CSW/NY community of over 50,000 people around the world;
  • Supporting the organization of panel discussions and roundtable events throughout the year;
  • Taking a leadership role within the Youth Leaders & Young Professionals program;
  • Monthly blog posts;
  • Attending UN and civil society meetings/events and reporting back;
  • Providing support and customer service to our constituency;
  • Administrative/office tasks

Communications Intern tasks and projects include:

  • Creating content for social media and other comms platforms and/or campaigns;
  • Help develop, plan, and implement campaigns for UN and CSW advocacy training;
  • Assist with developing the content of the NGO CSW70 Forum virtual platform, as well as a communications plan for the NGO CSW70 Forum;
  • Assisting with the communications for the Youth Leaders & Young Professionals program;
  • Taking a leadership role with the Youth Leaders & Young Professionals;
  • Supporting the Executive Committee through various subcommittee activities

Requirements:

  • Full-time commitment during the NGO CSW Forum March 9 - 20, 2026;
  • Mature intercultural communication abilities; practical experience in international settings is an asset;
  • Strong passion for gender equality and advancing women’s and girls’ movements.
  • Skilled in social media platforms and developing effective communication strategies.
  • Graphic design and photography skills; web design experience a plus.
  • Experience in NGO communications preferred; UN experience or interest in human rights is a plus.
  • Clear and effective communicator with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in audience research, messaging strategy implementation, and intercultural communication.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva Pro; familiarity with French and/or Spanish highly valued.
  • Excellent customer service and professionalism in diverse environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • A good sense of humor;
  • Background in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Design, or related fields preferred.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.; able to commute to New York City at least two days a week.
  • Proficiency in one of the UN languages other than English is an advantage. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is highly valued;
