Social Media and Communications Intern
NGO CSW/NY (the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York) is looking for a social media and communications intern to help run campaigns for UN and Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) advocacy, the NGO CSW71 Forum, and our Youth Leaders & Young Professionals program.
9 months. 3 days a week, 10 to 15 hours total. At least 2 days in person at our NYC office. $17/hour.
What you will do
- Create content for social media and other communications platforms and campaigns.
- Help plan and run campaigns for UN and CSW advocacy training.
- Develop content for the NGO CSW71 Forum virtual platform and trainings, and help build the Forum communications plan.
- Support communications for the Youth Leaders & Young Professionals (YLYPs) program and take a leadership role in it.
- Support the Executive Committee through subcommittee activities.
- Work on our Cities for CEDAW campaign (CEDAW is the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women).
Required
- Strong commitment to gender equality and advancing women's and girls' movements.
- Skill with social media platforms and developing communication strategies.
- Clear, effective writing and communication, tailored to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Canva Pro.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Collaborative, communicative, and transparent working style. We are a small team.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. and able to commute to NYC at least 2 days a week.
- Available full-time (Monday to Friday) during the NGO CSW71 Forum, March 8-19, 2027.
Preferred
- Graphic design and photography skills. Web design is a plus.
- NGO communications experience, or UN experience or interest in human rights.
- Audience research, messaging strategy, and intercultural communication skills.
- French and/or Spanish.
- Background in communications, journalism, marketing, design, or a related field.
