During our May monthly meeting we will hear reports from our Co-Chairs on the Civil Society Conference in Nairobi. We’ll examine the gender advocacy thread that runs from Nairobi to SotF to B+30 and how these processes interact with one another. In order to maintain the focus on gender across UN processes and cross-cutting mechanisms, this discussion will center on how gender advocacy may guarantee that these mechanisms are interdependent and mutually reinforcing.

Road to Nairobi: Youth Civil Society Consultation
On Friday, 3 May, NGP CSW/NY’s Youth Leaders and Young Professional (YLYP) held a Youth Civil Society Consultation. During the consultation, youth speakers involved in the planning of the conference gave a briefing on the ways that Civil Society inputs at the conference will feed into the Summit of the Future and Pact for the Future process, the organization of the conference including spaces that will be dedicated to Youth Civil Society, as well as ways for people to get involved both at the conference and virtually. Attendees then went into thematic breakout rooms organized thematically on each chapter of the Pact for the Future Zero Draft and discussed what priorities young people had for the Pact.
These inputs were collected and organized into key advocacy recommendations for young people to utilize as they engage in Nairobi and beyond, leading up to the SotF.
