The Platform of Independent Expert Mechanisms on Discrimination and Violence against Women (EDVAW Platform) gathers seven United Nations and regional independent expert mechanisms dedicated to addressing discrimination and violence against women and girls, promoting accountability, and advancing women’s and girls’ rights at the international and regional levels. The co-chairs of the Platform this year are Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Ms. Reem Alsalem, and Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa, Ms. Janet Ramatoulie Sallah-Njie.
We would like to inform you that the EDVAW Platform’s annual online meeting with NGOs will take place this year on 13 March 2025 (Thursday), from 10.00 to 13.00 EST. The meeting will be chaired by Commissioner Janet Ramatoulie Sallah-Njie.
We understand that the meeting takes place during a busy period for all of us but we hope that many of you will be able to join. The Microsoft Teams meeting link is as follows (flyer attached as well): https://bit.ly/4gXRUCk
The meeting will provide NGOs with an opportunity to hear from various members of the EDVAW Platform about their mandates, working methods, and upcoming priorities. This will be followed by an interactive dialogue, where NGOs can raise pressing concerns regarding women’s rights that the Platform should be mindful of and explore potential areas of collaboration with the Platform and its members.
Thank you and please reach out to Ms. Jung Min Shin (jung.shin1@un.org) and Ms. Irene Mbengue (MbengueI@africa-union.org) for any questions.
