Follow-Up: YLYP Introductory Meeting
Thank you to those who joined our introductory meeting! We discussed our plans for the year and how to get engaged. We also got invaluable feedback from participants about what they’d like to see from the YLYPs this year and what would be the most helpful for them in the lead up to the CSW67. On 8 September, the General Assembly adopted Resolution 76/306 establishing a United Nations Youth Office. This is a historic resolution and achievement for youth advocates at the UN. We hope that the new UN Youth Office will bring cohesion between the numerous youth processes happening throughout the UN system and will establish youth as an essential stakeholder in decision-making at the UN and globally.
Virtual and In-Person Parallel Event Applications are open!
Host an official in-person or virtual Parallel Event during the NGO CSW67 Forum from 6 – 17 March 2023!
What are Parallel Events?
One of the key components of the NGO CSW Forum is the Parallel Events. Each year, we invite civil society organizations around the globe to apply to host a Parallel Event, regardless of their ECOSOC status. These events are totally organized by the host NGO or CSO and address the CSW priority and/or review theme in some way. This year, the themes are:
Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls;
Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-second session);
Parallel Events not only provide a space and voice for NGOs and CSOs who may not have a voice at/access to the UN, but they also allow for education and galvanizing around different issues and topics within the feminist and women’s movement. Parallel Events are totally open to the public.
Why should I host a Parallel Event?
Hosting a Parallel Event during the NGO CSW Forum is a great way to promote your organization’s work to thousands of activists, other organizations, and people just looking to learn more about gender equality advocacy and the global women’s movement.
As a Parallel Event organizer, you will have a unique event page on the new and improved NGO CSW67 Forum Virtual Portal with a link to register for/join your event on your own virtual meeting platform (e.g. Zoom, Google Meets, Webex, etc.).
All Parallel Events, both in-person and virtual, will be listed on the Virtual Portal with a unique event page that organizers can edit.
Hybrid Format of the Forum | In-Person vs. Virtual Parallel Events
With the hybrid format of the Forum, you have the option to host an in-person event or a virtual event. We have a limited amount of in-person Parallel Event slots available. If you are not chosen for an in-person timeslot, we will schedule you for a virtual event instead. There is a separate application for each.
For CSW67, the Advocacy & Research Group (ARG) is focusing on consulting with our global, grassroots community to understand their lived experiences that pertain to the CSW67 theme on innovation and technological change.
To that end, the ARG sent a survey to our constituency to collect their input about the priority theme and their community’s experience with technology.
Read the results of the survey for a regional breakdown of the data and the community’s top concerns relating to digital technology and women’s rights and empowerment.
Join us for an Open Forum on CSW67. We’ll discuss our plans for the NGO CSW67 Forum, the basics of the UN CSW67, and hear from participants with any questions or concerns they may have.

Today, 14 October, is the final day to submit a written statement for CSW67!
NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) may submit one individual statement per organization and may sign on to multiple joint statements. NGOs are strongly encouraged to submit joint statements in collaboration with other NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC.
Written statements by organizations in general consultative status with ECOSOC may not exceed 2,000 words including the cover page; statements by organizations in special consultative status with ECOSOC may not exceed 1,500 words including the cover page. For any questions or concerns about written statements, please contact csw@unwomen.org.
NGOs that are accredited to and in good standing with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) may now register their representatives for the UN CSW67 in March 2023.
Registration for CSW67 will be open from 7 October 2022 till 27 January 2023. You may find the link to register here. Please be advised you must have, or create an Indico account in order to register. Once you have registered, please contact your organization’s designated focal point for approval.
Please note that UN CSW67 is open to ECOSOC-accredited organizations only. However, the NGO CSW67 Forum is open to all regardless of ECOSOC status. Registration for the NGO CSW67 Forum will open in November.

CSW67 Expert Group Meeting
UN Women convened a virtual expert group meeting (EGM) on the priority theme, Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls on 10 – 13 October 2022.
The first Generation Equality Accountability Report presents the findings of the 2022 Commitments Reporting Survey. It highlights progress made to date and will help hold Commitment Makers accountable to
their pledges.
