NGO CSW/NY organizes the civil society side of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The NGO CSW Forum runs parallel to the official session taking place at the UN Headquarters. This provides civil society the opportunity to engage in the processes and CSW sessions without ECOSOC-accreditation or a UN grounds pass.
Over the two weeks of the UN CSW, NGO CSW/NY organizes more than 500 events that inform, engage and inspire grassroots efforts and advocacy needed to empower women and girls.
This year, the NGO CSW65 Forum will be entirely virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We did it! Despite pushbacks, despite a pandemic, and despite all obstacles including global time zones, languages, and tech issues, our first ever virtual NGO CSW Forum was a success! Over 27,000 advocates joined the 700+ events during the Forum, making it one of the largest gatherings of the women’s movement and feminist civil society!
This year’s virtual Forum experience has proven that global civil society is fired up and ready to work for gender equality and women’s rights. Now, we have to make sure that the UN system and the CSW process are equally eager to work for our rights. We must ensure that the CSW process actually helps to advance gender equality and women’s rights. After the excitement, energy, and passion during the Forum, join us in keeping that momentum as we campaign for a more inclusive and effective CSW process.
