UN75 ‘We the Peoples’ Digital Consultation
Last year, the UN Secretary-General began a consultation called ‘We the Peoples’ during UN75 to generate bold proposals to strengthen international cooperation. As activists and experts in gender equality and women’s empowerment, you are invited to contribute your ideas on how to implement the commitments made in the Declaration adopted by the General Assembly to mark the UN’s 75th anniversary.
The Secretary-General will report back to member states by September 2021 with recommendations to advance our common agenda and to respond to current and future challenges. The ’We the Peoples’ digital consultation is part of this effort. Your inputs will be important.
Let us take advantage of this new virtual space. The deadline to submit your ideas is 21 May 2021. If you have any questions about the process, please contact wethepeoples@igarape.org.br
Everyday around the world, civil society takes action for gender equality. Stories of positive impact provide hope for the future. In a world where COVID-19 has exacerbated existing gender inequality, recovery must be a gender-responsive. This is why the United Nations now calls for civil society organizations to share your Stories on Gender Equality. UN Department of Global Communications will highlight the achievements of civil society on gender equality through social media posts and on our website. We know your actions will inspire others. Working together, we can make a difference.
