NGO CSW Survey for CSW Working Methods Results
After the disappointing CSW65 Agreed Conclusions, it was clear that the CSW process is not as effective, inclusive, or intersectional as it should be. Therefore, NGO CSW launched a survey as the first step to campaign for a more effective CSW process. The survey provided essential data to support our arguments for new CSW working methods and put pressure on the UN and CSW Bureau to be more inclusive of civil society and our priorities.
Civil Society Criteria for UN Women Executive Director Selection
With the selection of the new UN Women Executive Director approaching this summer, a group of civil society members came together to set forth some criteria to be used for the selection of the next Executive Director of UN Women. The letter highlights that the new ED should be committed to the advancement of human rights towards the achievement of gender equality and greater social justice.
Any individual, non-governmental organization, group or network may submit communications (complaints/appeals/petitions) to the Commission on the Status of Women containing information relating to alleged violations of human rights that affect the status of women in any country in the world. The Commission on the Status of Women considers such communications as part of its annual programme of work in order to identify emerging trends and patterns of injustice and discriminatory practices against women for purposes of policy formulation and development of strategies for the promotion of gender equality.
Feminists Around the World: 24 Hours to End Violence GBV Campaign
We are one month ahead of the Generation Equality Forum Paris. This is the moment to get together and to ensure that governments take strong commitments to end sexual and gender-based violence by undertaking two key measures:
Allocating at least 0.1% of their gross domestic product to the fight against sexual and gender-based violence;
Reinforcing the support of victims of sexual and gender-based violence at all stages of their journey and facilitating their access to justice.
This is why the Générations Féministes and #NousToutes collectives, in partnership with multiple international networks, invite you, wherever you are in the world, to join our global campaign #StopTalkingStartFunding.
Participate in “Feminists around the world: 24 hours to end violence” by organising an event on 23 June.
Join us for our June Monthly Meeting for a special intergenerational program! We’ll be announcing the winners of the NGO CSW65 Youth Feminist Awards, having a panel discussion on widows, and announcing the new NGO CSW/NY Executive Committee!
