November 25th marks the first day of the 16 Days of Advocacy Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign beginning on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and culminating on International Human Rights Day.
Gender-based violence affects one in three women worldwide, making it one of the most pervasive and urgent human rights crises of our time. Despite its staggering scale, violence against women and girls is still too often dismissed, minimized, or normalized. From trafficking and intimate partner violence to digital harassment, economic abuse, and other forms of systemic oppression, gender-based violence reaches into every region and every community.
During these 16 days, organizations, activists, and communities across the globe come together to raise awareness, demand accountability, and push for meaningful change. It’s a time to amplify the work of women’s rights organizations, share educational resources, uplift survivors’ voices, and reflect on how each of us can contribute to ending GBV. By staying informed, supporting advocacy efforts, and speaking out within your own circles, each of us can help advance safety, dignity, and justice for women and girls.
The theme of this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is: UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls. Check in every day over the next 16 days as we work to highlight and bring awareness to GBV and its global impact.
